Common Cold and Flu :- With the changing season, most of the people have to face cold and flu. In winter season it is common to have the problem of phlegm along with cold and flu. There can be many reasons for suffering from cold. Many people get cold due to living in moist environment ,change in weather, while many people get cold due to eating more cold things,. So here are some home remedies by which you can cure your cold.

What is common cold?

An infection of your nose and throat caused by viruses is known as common cold . Cold is also known as rhinitis or nasopharyngitis. It is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract that primarily affects the respiratory mucosa of the nose, sinuses and throat. Symptoms and sign of common cold may appear in less than two days after exposure to the virus.

Some common symptoms of cold are:




The person suffering from cold and flu sneeze too much and the patient feel very cold. When the patient sneezes, a kind of fluid starts coming out from the persons nose.

Headache and heaviness:



Due to sneezing again and again a person might suffers from headache.

Contaminated air enters in our body and affect us and we become prone to it.

Rhinovirus and Coronavirus are the main causes of cold and flu .

What to eat in cold

Always eat light, fresh and hot nutritional food.

Drink honey water:

Mix 2-3 spoons of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it in the morning and evening, it provides relief in the disease.

Eat fruits:


In fruits, eat guava, banana, apple, chikoo, papaya, mango, pomegranate, cucumber, orange, gooseberry, lemon. Because the vitamin C present in these fruits is helpful in removing cold.

Eat vegetables:


In vegetables, you should eat raddish, cucumber, beet, spinach, tomato, turnip, cabbage, gourd, carrot.


Home Remedies to cure Common cold and Flu

Desi cow ghee is helpful in cold



The best cure for all diseases like common cold and flu, pure native ghee of the cow. Take one spoon of ghee, heat it and add one drop of ghee in both nostrils and then go to sleep. This process will help in opening the blocked nostrils and hence decreases the cold.

There is so much power in this ghee that it also eliminates more than 10 years eye pain.

Treatment with honey


Honey has been used in the treatment of common cold and flu symptoms since ancient times. The reason why honey is effective in treating cold and flu symptoms is because it contains antibacterial properties that help kill the bacteria that cause these illnesses.

First of all, mix one spoon of lemon juice and two spoon of honey, mix it well and consume it. Do this upto three for days.

Garlic benefits in cold


Put 6-7 chopped cloves of garlic in half a cup of water and then boil it on the fire and add a spoonful of honey to it, then consume it, use it at least 3-4 times a day, the cold will be cured quickly.

Consumption of milk and turmeric is beneficial in cold

Turmeric has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, which is very helpful in fighting common cold and flu. Mixing a spoonful of turmeric in warm hot milk and drinking it regularly for two three days provides fast relief in cold. This recipe proves to be effective not only for children but also for adults.

Treatment with nutmeg and cinnamon


Grind nutmeg and cinnamon in equal quantity and eat it twice a day, it provides great benefit in common cold and flu. Nutmeg and cinnamon are a panacea for cold and cough treatment.
